There was something peculiar about Paradise Prairie south of Pendleton. It was good grassland. But when Kent Durwin went to buy up the old Costain place where the three Costains had been killed in a Bannock Indian raid he suspected foul play. And when he dug up the Costains’s stuff that the Indians were supposed to have taken with them he knew he was right.
