Description

When Aunt Fanny becomes too ill to look after herself, Mama Bunny decides to move her in with her family. This means big changes at the Bunny house, of course, but it also means fun and discovery for the three young bunnies as they get to learn all about their funny aunt. She shows them that there is always comfort and consolation in the twinkling stars overhead. This touching, gentle picture book helps children navigate the difficult issues of dealing with the death of a loved one. It shares in simple terms the truth that death affects us all, and that life goes on as surely as there are stars twinkling in the sky.

Reviews

"Quiet, understated, rather lovely tale of a family helping an elderly relative move on." --Elizabeth Bird, School Library Journal "Lovely watercolors and sensitive writing will resonate with children who've lost a loved one. At the end is a happy depiction of a sparkling night sky 'and the stars in heavens twinkling happily back' to the children. It's a fantastic story for all." --Lee Littlewood, Kids Home Library "A touching . . . story that deals with its tough subject in an honest yet comforting manner; a solid addition to the death and grieving sections of most collections." --Yelena Alekseyeva-Popova, School Library Journal "A gentle preview of mortality for young ones, softening but not disguising the prospect and arrival of loss." --Kirkus Reviews "An uplifting, honest look at the death of a loved one, Aunt Fanny's Star is inspiring in every way." --Kendal Rautzhan, Books to Borrow, Books to Buy
