Description

Understand how your thinking drives your money behaviour to master your finances and make better financial decisions. There is limitless financial information in our modern-day, connected world. We can find stats, facts, investing approaches, wealth creation hacks and new ways to wealth (think Crypto currencies). But leading economist and market analyst Evan Lucas believes we should cut out the external noise and look at ourselves first. What drives our behaviour and attitude to money? This fascinating book explores the things people do to overcome their money habits and looks to instill tips on how we can make better money decisions just by acknowledging our own learned behaviours. All too often we ignore logic and make decisions around money that we know aren t entirely rational. That s because money doesn t just involve finances it s deeply tied up with our emotions, our learned behaviours, our biases and how we think. We are all different in the way we use money: some of us are savers, some spenders, risk-takers, or investors.Mind over Money helps us understand our money personalities, our money cognition and why we do what we do. It then takes us through ways we can work with our strengths so that we meet our financial goals and live the lifestyle we desire. Mind over Money is a life-changing read that will help clarify what you want from life and your money, so you can master your finances and improve your financial freedom.

Author Biography

Evan Lucas is a leading economist and Chief Market Strategist at InvestSMART. He has loved markets since the days of sitting with his grandfather and mulling over his investment portfolios. What he learnt from his early experiences is that investing habits, strategies and behaviours do not translate across families, generations, or peers. This led him to become fascinated with behavioural finance throughout his career that has taken him to the Netherlands, the UK and back to Australia over a decade and a half. An experienced financial educator, his biggest learnings from his time working in markets, investing, and finance is that our individual behaviour towards money is always different and always changing. Evan is a regular commentator on ABC television and radio news, TODAY and SKY News.

Reviews

Evan's Mind Over Money is one of the best written, most engaging and, at heart, most sophisticated books on personal finance that I've read (and I've read a few). Alan Kohler, Editor-in-Chief of Eureka Report, finance reporter on ABC News, columnist for The New Daily and Adjunct Professor at Victoria University As an experienced market strategist, I have often relied on Evan's investment insights, but it's his ability to make us question what really makes us tick that's the real highlight here. Financial wellbeing and freedom starts with becoming financially self-aware. Evan does a great job of helping us discover the best financial versions of ourselves. Effie Zahos, Editor-at-Large of Canstar, money expert for The Today Show, author of Ditch the Debt and Get Rich and A Real Girl's Guide to Money, and independent director of InvestSMART Normally the only person who benefits from a personal finance book is the author - but not with this one. Evan teaches you how to fish, rather than telling you which fish will make you slightly richer right now. Elysse Morgan, host of ABC's The Business, and board member of Media Super and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women's Shelter Unsurprisingly, Evan has nailed it! Money's not just something we use; it's attached to our behaviour. When Evan explains why you behave, think and act in certain ways with money, you better understand that your way with money is unique to you. Once that penny drops, you will question your money behaviour for the better. Mind over Money is not just a refreshing, energising read but a must-read for those looking to understand money and themselves better! Brooke Corte, host of Money News, Nine Radio (3AW, 2GB, 4BC)
