Reviews

Friendship, patience and wisdom are finely woven in this story linking the lives of sea turtles and the people who care for them. * George H. Balazs, global independent sea turtle scientist * ... an inspiring ecological tale which celebrates the richness of marine life * Child Education * This is exactly the kind of book which will engage children's interest and inspire a sense of wonder about the world. * School Librarian * A beguiling look at the breeding process of Japanese sea turtles, who lay their eggs on land yet live in the ocean. Hushed, lavender-hued pictures befit the tone of the understated story; mottled backgrounds cast a quiet spell, as does the sagacious old man who appears to understand more than just turtles. * Kirkus Reviews * Realistic drawings suffused with gold, blue, or lavender depict the changing moods of the sea and its varied inhabitants, from starfish to whales. An evocative, gentle book that celebrates life on the shore with events and language very young children can appreciate. * School Library Journal *
