Shaun Tan grew up in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. He graduated from the University of WA in 1995 with joint honours in Fine Arts and English Literature, and currently works as an artist and author in Melbourne. Shaun began drawing and painting images for science fiction and horror stories in small-press magazines as a teenager, and has since become best known for illustrated books that deal with social, political and historical subjects through surreal, dream-like imagery. THE RABBITS, THE RED TREE, TALES FROM OUTER SUBURBIA, RULES OF SUMMER and the acclaimed wordless novel THE ARRIVAL have been widely translated and enjoyed by readers of all ages. Shaun has also worked as a theatre designer, a concept artist for animated films including Pixar's WALL-E, and directed the Academy Award-winning short film THE LOST THING with Passion Pictures Australia. In 2011 he received the presitgious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, honouring his contribution to international children's literature. Tillie Walden is a cartoonist and illustrator from Austin, Texas. Born in 1996, she is a recent graduate from the Center for Cartoon Studies, a comics school in Vermont. Over the course of her time at CCS she published three books with the London-based Avery Hill Publishing. She has already received an Eisner Award nomination and two Ignatz Awards for her early works. When she is not drawing comics, Tillie can be found walking and listening to audiobooks or asleep with a cat. She also enjoys studying architecture and tries to incorporate that passion into her comics. SPINNING, her first long-form autobiographical work, was published by First Second in North America and SelfMadeHero in the UK. Box Brown is an Ignatz Award-winning cartoonist, illustrator, and comic book publisher from Philadelphia. His books include the NEW YORK TIMES-bestselling ANDRE THE GIANT: LIFE AND LEGEND and TETRIS: THE GAMES PEOPLE PLAY. In 2011, Box Brown launched the independent comics publishing house, Retrofit Comics. Krent Able is a London-based comics artist and illustrator. He first started making comics in 2009 for THE STOOL PIGEON music magazine, and his BIG BOOK OF MISCHIEF was published in 2012 by Knockabout Comics, home of Robert Crumb and Alan Moore. In 2013 he exhibited in The VICE Illustration Show; in 2014 his work was included in the COMICS UNMASKED exhibition at The British Library; and in 2015 he illustrated the book JOLLY LAD by John Doran. Krent's comics and illustrations have also appeared in THE GUARDIAN, the NME, and on VICE.COM & BUZZFEED, and he has designed record sleeves, T-shirts & posters for the rock bands Future Of The Left & Kite Base. In 2016, he co-wrote and starred in INK, COCKS & ROCK 'N' ROLL, a short film about Krent Able by award-winning film director Matt Harlock. Erik Svetoft is an illustrator and comics artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. His books include HAKKEN and LIMO, and his comics have appeared in VICE and many other publications. Julian Hanshaw won the OBSERVER/Jonathan Cape/Comica short story award in 2008 for SAND DUNES AND SONIC BOOMS. He is the author of the graphic novels I'M NEVER COMING BACK and the Prix-Europa-winning THE ART OF PHO. His most recent book, TIM GINGER, was shortlisted for the British Comic Award and the LA TIMES Book Award. Julian also contributed to the multi-award-winning HOAX: PSYCHOSIS BLUES. He lives on the south coast of the UK with his wife, Sarah, and spends too much time thinking about cricket.
