This morning Sam Sullivan was a modern kid with a straightforward sort of life. This afternoon he's living in 1901 with a bunch of crazy people who think they know him! When he's laid a few bets, fought a few thieves and slept in some pretty strange places it's time to get real. An accident in a shooting gallery forces him to take a tough decision - can he change the past and affect his own future? Kirsty Murray enjoys the challenge of blending fiction and non-fiction, she says: 'Playing with ideas, pretending to be other people, and weaving stories together from different threads of information really is my idea of fun.'

Kirsty Murray is the author of several non-fiction children's books and one novel. She has worked as a forest ranger, archivist, artist and teacher, and now is a full-time writer. Her previous novel, set in a bush circus, was Zarconi's Magic Flying Fish (1999).
