Reviews

June 13 Let's bring on the sun! This delightful book is packed with sunflowers to knit, crochet and felt. There's a host of blooms, buds, birds, butterflies and bees to spark creativity. There are ideas for using sunflowers in lots of different ways, to create elegant gifts plus items for the home. * Machine Knitting Monthly * June 13 As summer (by rights) should be upon us now, this is a very timely book to be making something to create a little bit more sunshine, or remind us what it's like if it is lacking in the weather. These flowers are either knitted, crocheted or felted, and there is a colourful directory at the beginning to show you what choice there is. In addition to a great array of sunflowers, there are other `sunny' flowers in a variety of colours, as well as some wildlife (butterflies, bees and ladybirds included) and they make for a bright and jolly book. About 30 designs are knitted and 24 are crocheted, with notes about felting particular flowers given in the instructions (with photos so you can see how they look). The projects vary in difficulty and would be easily adapted to embellish a design, needle-felt into a piece of work, or use in any of the 15 projects provided. It is bright and colourful and for those drizzly summer days (hopefully not too many), just looking will give you a lift. * Workshop On The Web * Feb 13 It all started with van Gogh didn't it and ever since his painting became famous, we've loved sunflowers. Here Kristin has designed many sunflowers of all sizes, shapes and colours for you to knit, crochet and felt. In this book you'll find brief notes on all three, plus embellishment and colour. The sunflowers are all photographed on colour pages, then the instructions follow. besides the sunflowers there are some insects and a robin too. There are 14 projects for ideas on how to use the sunflowers you have made. The front cover gives a good idea of what is in the book. * Karen Platt Yarnsandfabrics.co.uk/crafts *
