Description

TV chef and restaurateur John Torode believes that there's too much stress in cooking and eating nowadays. For him, it is all about cooking what you feel like, having fun in the kitchen, creating dishes and enjoying eating with family and friends. In this lively and engaging book, he encourages us to think about food to suit our mood - something spicy, something comforting, or something relaxed. Instead of focusing on different ingredients or meals, the chapters in this book are imaginatively divided according to moods including Relaxed, Spicy and Sensual, Comfort, Nostalgia and Smart, so that you can choose your meal depending on the atmosphere of the occasion. Traditional dishes such as Coq au Vin, Eggs Benedict and Deep Fried Hake with Chips, sit alongside more exotic recipes such as Baba Ganoush, Seafood Laksa and Tuna Sashimi Salad. Each chapter also contains a delicious section of desserts to complement the main dishes.

Author Biography

Australian chef John Torode trained in Melbourne and came to the UK in 1990 where he was head chef of the Sydney Restaurant in London. From there, he joined the Terence Conran empire, working firstly at Le Pont de la Tour and then at Quaglino's. In 1995 he launched the mega-restaurant Mezzo before moving onto Bluebird in London's King's Road. He now runs Smiths of Smithfield, the hugely successful four floor restaurant with private dining room and a cafe, located near London's famous Smithfield market. John appears regularly on television as the co-host of BBC's Masterchef.
