Wealthy and cynical businessman Peter de Boer heads up Christie, a venture capitalist company. He specialises in aggressive takeovers and takes pleasure in taking down erstwhile successful businesses. In contrast, Nicky Landsaat's background couldn't be more different. With few advantages in life and desperate to escape her miserable home life, she has been forced to fight for her newly acquired job at Christie and no one thinks she will make it.
