There are some very traditional tales, such as The Nutcracker and The Snow Queen, and then there are lesser known tales (to us here in the UK) with equivalent magical properties. I think my favourite must be The Mitten - a Ukrainian folk tale. I love it's poetic style. My children, who are aged from 7 to 12 have loved sitting and listening to some of these tales at bedtime and reading them has already given us a very wintery, Christmassy feeling inside.
