Reviews

Rise Up! is a fantastic collection of art used in protest and covers women's rights, issues around race, climate change and the such. It's really fascinating to see the different advertising campaigns used as well as the smaller art pieces. Each section provides a short commentary to explain what the posters and imagery are but it's a thoroughly fascinating book and worthy of study. * Let Them Be Small * For young people politicised by causes such as Extinction Rebellion or Black Lives Matter, this book will help them dig a bit deeper into their heritage. For those who think that politics is not for them and its all a bit of a yawn, this might open the door just wide enough to let them in. * The Letterpress Project * Using effectively contrasting styles, from the art nouveau images of the early 20th century to the photographic frankness of the new millennium, Rippon's book explores how image and text can combine to communicate with immense emotional power. * Irish Times * A copy, preferably several, should be in all schools and colleges; it's a wonderful demonstration of the way in which a combination of creativity and bold resistance can help bring about positive changes that ultimately benefit everyone. * Red Reading Hub *
