Description

This little book is both a discussion and practical guide to one of the most British of pastimes - pottering. Author Anna McGovern writes with charm about the joy and practicality of living in the meandering moment, not asking too much of yourself and yet still getting things done in the gentlest of ways. This is the book for people who want to discover productivity at an easier pace, and above all the contentment you achieve when accepting that you can only do what you can do. Potteringis a true ode to slow living and an antidote to the stresses of modern life.

Author Biography

Anna is a digital producer. After applying for a job and not getting an interview, she decided upon a part-time career break one day a week to recharge and potter, and found the power and pleasure in not doing very much. This is her first book.

Reviews

"[A] delightful debut... McGovern's steady, bright prose and clear-eyed suggestions fill the book: Pottering is not glamorous. Pottering is not a lifestyle concept, and does not take practice. Just be. Those who have tried their hand at hygge, lagom, coorie and the like will find themselves right at home here." Publishers Weekly "The book is filled with gorgeous, evocative illustrations whose lighthearted and inviting scenes show people pottering through work in a garden and eating dinner with friends. Its descriptions of the practices and purposes of pottering are apt and unadorned, and its charming British diction is inviting. Pottering is an accessible text that suggests slowing down and savoring life." Foreword Reviews "This is a natural next-step for followers of notions like Danish hygge and Marie Kondo's tidying up."
