Description

Terrific horror-with-a-heart adventure from a master of fantasy. When Hagurosan is told to take an offering to the shrine, he reluctantly begins his trek up the mountain. But when he gets hungry and eats the cake meant for the spirits, things take a turn that no one could have expected. Now Hagurosan must face the consequences of his actions.

Author Biography

Darren's first children's book, Cirque du Freak, which he'd written as a fun side-project, was published and became the first book in a series titled The Saga of Darren Shan (or Cirque du Freak). Shan quickly followed up his vampiric saga with The Demonata, a series about demons. The Demonata cemented Shan's place in the UK as the Master Of Children's Horror, and saw him score his first UK #1 bestseller. He also wrote a one-off short book, called Koyasan, for World Book Day in the UK.

Reviews

"Hagurosan is an easy to read short novel that has a heart-warming ending, and a message that people could help each other in a crisis if they try." Fantasy Book Review "I absolutely loved this book myself - a beautiful, magical story, but the audience may be more narrow than is the norm for this series. I also feel that this has exceptional value as an educational book, to learn about other cultures, but also about philosophy and morality as well." - The Bookbag Blog "Darren Shan's brand new book Hagurosan is amazing - I recommend this book to the people who love Darren Shan and his books." - Sean Innes, WEJS Book blog "Hagurosan is a amazing book - I guarantee you will love it. It is exciting and easy to read. I loved it. 10/10" - Aidan Allen, WEJS Book blog "I wouldn't know how to exactly define Darren Shan's latest book, but it definitely isn't his normal horror stuff. It is, however, a very good read. It's short, simple and enjoyable. The surprise at the end of Hagurosan was clever and I didn't see it coming. It's an uplifting book and surprisingly thought provoking." - Ashley Manning, blogger "I really enjoyed this book. It's short, sweet and easy to read. I think people of all ages would enjoy this tale and I recommend it to everyone." - Blog Dangerous
