Description

It's a cold, rainy night and a storm is outside. Rain beats on the window by Lily's bedside. She's scared of the dark so she shuts her eyes tight. She hates nothing more than the dead of the night. Tap. Tap. Tap. Comes a noise from the hallway ... Will Lily conquer her fears? Will she conquer her fright? Will she conquer the ghouls in dead of the night? Arthur McBain's irresistible rhyme and Tom Knight's cheerful illustrations are sure to entertain both children and adults. With thrilling suspense, a healthy dash of humour and a memorable surprise ending, In the Dead of the Night is destined to become a modern classic.

Author Biography

Arthur McBain is an actor and writer from Liverpool. As an actor, he has worked on both stage and screen. He is best known for portraying Snowy Fleet in the critically acclaimed ABC television series Friday On My Mind. He began his acting career in the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre of Scotland's international touring play Dunsinane. After 10 years of working in graphic design, Tom Knight finally realised that true happiness lies in drawing pictures for a living in a shed at the bottom of the garden. Brought up on a healthy diet of Tintin, The Beano and good sea air, Tom has illustrated more than 30 books for children, and has now turned his hand to writing his own. He finds most of his inspiration from the natural world, particularly the coast, which he finds in abundance on Mersea Island where he lives with his family.
