Description

It starts with one little goat. It ends with one little goat. But what happens in between is a whirlwind of nonsense and fun. International favorites Ursula Dubosarsky and Andrew Joyner make the most of their advanced sense of the ridiculous in this hilarious read-aloud traditional tale, based on a traditional song receited at the close of the Jewish Passover.

Author Biography

Ursula Dubosarsky wanted to be a writer from the age of six, and is now the author of over 40 books for children and young adults, which have won several national prizes, including the NSW, Victorian, South Australian and Queensland Premier's Literary Awards. Apart from fiction and picture books, she has also written the non-fiction "Word Spy" books about the English language. One Little Goat will be Ursula and Andrew's fourth book together. Their previous titles include The Terrible Plop, Too Many Elephants and Tim and Ed. Ursula Dubosarsky lives in Sydney with her family. Andrew Joyner is an Australian illustrator and cartoonist. In 2009 his first picture book, The Terrible Plop, written by Ursula Dubosarsky, was published. The book was shortlisted for many awards, including the CBCA Book of the Year 2010 and the PM's Literary Awards 2010. In 2013, Andrew illustrated Jan Ormerod's The Swap, which won the 2014 CBCA Book of the Year, and has been translated into 14 languages. Andrew has achieved huge success in both Australia and overseas with his Little Hare titles - What's the Matter, Aunty May, One Little Goat and Yobbos do Yoga - and, more recently with The Pink Hat, published by Penguin Random House. Along with his children's book work, Andrew illustrates regularly for newspapers and magazines, both locally and internationally. He lives in Strathalbyn, South Australia, with his family and nineteen pets.

Reviews

"Guaranteed to see many multiple readings." --Kirkus Reviews starred review of The Terrible Plop "The duo behind The Terrible Plop returns with a spiky riff on the cumulative song 'Had Gadya.'" --Publishers Weekly "The rhythmic narrative begs to be read aloud--viewers will laugh all the way through, turn the book over and begin again. A whole lot of fun!" --School Library Journal
