The poem was first published anonymously in the Troy Sentinel in 1823. Deborah Melmon is the illustrator of over fifty children's picture books, readers, and board books. She has also designed greeting cards, gift wrap, and fabric. She graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and lives in the Bay Area with her terrier, Mack.

Reviews

"A classic Christmas text gets the Highlights Hidden Pictures Storybook treatment. The printed text on each spread is surrounded by small spot illustrations of individual items that readers can search for in the main, detailed pictures. A helpful key in backmatter pages reveals the precise locations. Blurring the line between game and story, this is a title readers will revisit annually--sort of like St. Nick revisiting those who celebrate Christmas. One to place under the tree..." - Kirkus Reviews
