Description

In the darkest of nights, when all else is lost, Scotty is ready to hurl himself into danger if it means saving innocent citizens. After all, that's what a superhero does. But this hero is about to come face-to-face with his greatest fear, his only weakness--the first day of school! Full of menacing minions and pencils as sharp as knives, Scotty might not be able to defeat this foe. But just when he thinks all hope is lost, Scotty realizes that school is no match for a whole team of heroes--his new friends.

Reviews

Long's graphite pencil and digitally colored illustrations are packed with gross-out details that will have kids in stitches. * Kirkus Reviews on FANGSGIVING * Ingenious. . . . This engaging picture book celebrates the gathering of family and friends; helping young readers to understand and appreciate the value of giving thanks. * School Library Journal on FANGSGIVING * Long's sense of comic timing is utter perfection. Hysterically plays on kids' stereotyped notions of love, hopefully putting some to rest. * Kirkus Reviews, starred review, on VALENSTEINS * There are lots of laughs to be found in Long's twilit cartoons and the banter among the characters * Publishers Weekly on VALENSTEINS * Long's dark, ghostly palette sets an appropriately eerie mood, and he has a lot of fun with the cuddly animals' reign of terror. * Publishers Weekly, starred review, on FRIGHT CLUB * The lighthearted tone makes this Halloween tale a perfect pick for younger children. * Booklist on FRIGHT CLUB *
