Author Biography

Anita Yasuda is the author of more than 100 books for children. In 2013, she won the Honor Book award, Science for grades K-12, Society of School Librarians International for Explore Flight! With 25 Great Projects and in 2012, she won the gold Moonbeam award for her book Explore The Wild West! With 25 Great Activities. She is a member of the Society of Children's Books Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI). She splits her time between California and Toronto, Canada. Tom Casteel is an illustrator and cartoonist that graduated from the Center for Cartoon Studies in 2011. He has illustrated more than two dozen books for Nomad Press. He lives in South Bend, Indiana with his wife, son, two smelly dogs and one old cat.

The book starts with information about the Water Cycle and the different types of weather related to water. For instance, the topics include, snow, groundwater, clouds, oceans, rivers and glaciers. It also touches on water vapor as well as condensation and evaporation. At the end of each section highlighted there is a project page where kids can create their own science project based on the topic discussed. The projects are easy and use every day items at home. There is a glossary in the back as well as metric conversions, books, websites and museum and science centers, and a question section as well as an index. This would be a great addition to a classroom as well as any collection looking for elementary aged information and projects about the water cycle. The book is easy to follow along and instructions are simple to implement.
