Meant to be read as a companion to the actual Biblical text, it's filled with the author's personal insights, developed over a period of 60 years. of the author that developed over a sixty-year period. Including numerous quotations from the New Testament, observations from Early Church Fathers and personal anecdotes from the author's 40-year experience with grassroot House Churches, it spotlights the vigor and growth of early Christianity and explores the emergence of the Church under the leadership of Jesus' teachings and the work of the Holy Spirit. "You are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:19-22)

He and his wife of 44 years became part of a small house church in Memphis, Tennessee in the early 1970s--a time of great social upheaval and the Jesus movement. They are the proud parents of four children and grandchildren. He was educated at the University of Virginia and Yale University in addition to stints as an American Scandinavian Foundation Fellow in Sweden and a Knight Foundation Fellow in conjunction with the University of Miami.
