Description

A charming story with a woodland setting, ideal for children practising their reading at home or in school. Dusty the fox cub can't wait for her very first spring, and Dad tells her there will be a big party when it comes. All Dusty has to do is find 101 daffodils to prove it really is spring. That is a lot of flowers! Will Dusty be able to find them all with the help of her friends Mabel the mole and Ricky the robin? This heart-warming animal tale form Irish author Malachy Doyle is perfect for Key Stage 1 (KS1) children who are learning to read by themselves. It features engaging illustrations from Denise Hughes and explores the themes of seasons and plant life cycles. Bloomsbury Young Readers are the perfect way to get children reading, with book-banded stories by brilliant authors like Julia Donaldson. They are packed with gorgeous colour illustrations and include inside cover notes with tips for getting the most out of the book, as well as ideas for activities related to the stories. 'Every child needs a Bloomsbury Young Reader. Fun, stretching, just the right length, full of adventurous vocabulary and punctuation.' (Julie-Ann McCulloch, Teacher) Book Band: Lime Ideal for ages 6+

Author Biography

Malachy Doyle lives in Ireland on a tiny island off the coast of Donegal, with his wife, cats, dogs, hens and ducks. Before writing children's books, he worked in advertising and as a teacher for children with special needs. Malachy has written over a hundred books and is the best-selling author of The Hound of Ulster and Rama and Sita: The Story of Diwali. Denise Hughes studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art. Denise's character-driven illustrations are inspired by childhood memories, animals and children. She is happiest when creating a new, fun character and can often be overheard giggling whilst drawing (or so her studio colleagues tell her!).
