...a fun, easy read for young adults and older children. For me, it was reminiscent of the Goosebump series of my childhood. Scary danger just around the corner but the main characters usually do the right thing, even if it means having to face their fears...-- "Be Nonsensical blog" A great story for upper elementary students! What students of this age like more than anything else is scary stories and this one is very good! It has the perfect elements for a good story: the perfect location where sinister things happen (Raven's Pass), inanimate objects coming to life and a mysterious, questionable past. I will be adding this series to my school library.-- "NetGalley Review" Curses for Sale is a fun and slightly spooky book for children around 9 to 13 years old. . . .Readers that have a fondness for the Goosebumps series will enjoy it, and those that have started to outgrow the My Wierd School and other easier series might find this as a good next step.-- "Sharon the Librarian blog" Curses for Sale is a light, fun read for younger readers. It reminded me of the Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine, which I enjoyed very much when I was younger. . . .This was my first time reading a book in the Raven's Pass series, but it may not be my last, considering how much I enjoyed this book.-- "I Heart Reading blog" Despite being geared for kids, adults will thoroughly enjoy this story. It is the type of adventure all of us wish we had as kids. It has a nice, even, pace, and knows how to get you feeling that "spook factor." A bit of humor, adventure, and mystery, makes this a book perfect for any fans of the "Goosebumps" series.-- "Books and Beyond blog" I really really like this short story! It was really nice and the drawings were awesome!-- "Velvet Red blog" The plot reminds me of Stephen King's Christine with a little bit of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps thrown in. Kids will like the main character Jace as he tries to stop more accidents from occurring. The narration gives out a creepy vibe throughout the story, but it stays at a G-rating. I liked my first venture into Ravens Pass and I'll definitely want to return for future books.-- "Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer blog" There isn't a lot you can do for early middle grade weird tales that isn't vaguely like other things that have been written at other times by other people. So, it seems to me that the question for a book like this usually is - is this written well, does it maintain suspense, is the twist pretty well hidden until the end, and can you honestly tell a kid that it's worth the time and effort to read? Curses for Sale pretty much earns high marks across the board on that test. . . .The scary/horror/weird part isn't terribly unnerving and shouldn't upset even very susceptible kids, which may be one of the best aspects of the book if you're thinking intro kind of reader. So, a solid entry that seems well worth considering in the scary book category.-- "NetGalley Review" This moves along quickly and has action in almost every chapter. The illustrations are fabulous and the ending leaves the series open to more curse-filled adventures. Younger readers will enjoy this. It's a nice stepping stone into the darker books like the Goosebump series.-- "Kids Books Central"
