Description

Lyuba is a four month old woolly mammoth that was discovered 31,000 years after her birth, in May 2007. Found lying along a riverside in Siberia, Lyuba is one of the most perfectly preserved mammoth bodies ever recovered. This book traces Lyuba's journey from her emergence out of the permafrost, to her discovery by the indigenous Nenet people, to her travels to state-of-the-art science laboratories all over the world. Her story provides a fascinating look at many different areas of science, including palaeontology, radiology, and forensic science, as researchers explore this treasure and try to figure out what prehistoric secrets she has carried into the 21st century. This discovery has allowed scientists to recreate Lyuba's world and reveal new information about mammoths, that until now, has been frozen in time.
