Reviews

Impossible not to read it in a single gulp * The Times * Utterly sublime * Cecelia Ahern * Compelling and beautifully wrought * The Sunday Times * A book that changes its reader for the better * Guardian * Undoubtedly one of the best books of the year * Irish Times * One of our most original writers * John Boyne * Very special * Daily Mail * Winner of the Honour Award for Fiction in the KPMG Ireland Children's Books Awards 2020, Toffee is lyrical and compelling, with Crossan's style beautifully balancing trauma and frustration, with heart-warming moments and glimpses of humour * Paper Lanterns * This is a tense read, as two vulnerable characters struggle to maintain their autonomy in a precarious world. There are no happy endings, but the reader feels that Allison/Toffee's commitment to education will be her salvation * CBI Mind Yourself 2020 Reading Guide * I would read one page of this and find myself needing to turn to the next because this book was so good. The chapters were short and it left me wanting more ... Intense and also kind of moving * Teen Titles Magazine *
