Description

For a child, moving from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1 can be a huge change. It is up to the adults involved to make the process of transition as smooth and continuous as possible. This brand new edition contains advice for teachers, teaching assistants, practitioners, parents and managers on supporting children though and after the move. It includes a special section on how we can use new knowledge about how children learn to help them build on their previous experiences of learning and what we can do to help them cope with the emotional factors involved in the change.

Author Biography

Ros Bayley was an enthusiastic advocate of personal, social and emotional education, believing that if we get this right children's intellectual development will follow much more easily. Consequently, much of her work revolved around enhancing children's self-esteem and educating for self-knowledge. Following extensive experience as an Early Years teacher, Ros later worked as a consultant, trainer and storyteller. Sally Featherstone has a wealth of experience as a teacher, head teacher and a local authority adviser and inspector. In recent years, alongside her activities in publishing, Sally has continued to build a national reputation as a trainer and consultant in the Primary and Early Years field.
