In 2001, she became Children's Laureate, and in 2003, she was awarded an OBE. Sam Usher is the celebrated author-illustrator of Snow, Rain, Sun and Storm. He has illustrated several titles including the Waterstones Book of the Month, Umbrella Mouse. He has also been been shortlisted for the Waterstones Prize, the Red House Children's Book Award and longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal.
