Description

An essential tool for the learning of Latin, based around the GCSE word lists of OCR and WJEC. Each Latin word is translated and given a set of derivatives, some common and others less so. Space is given for readers to annotate as they learn - and note other derivatives they may come across too! A concise introduction and a glossary of Latin in common usage combine to make this a vade mecum for all learners of Latin as well as cruciverbalists. The text is imaginatively punctuated by 20 illustrations by Amanda Short.

Author Biography

Reviews

Declensions have for some proved to be the instrument of their ascent. Pari passu and mutatis mutandis, that will indubitably be true for every lector of Caroline Mackenzie's brilliant Latin compendium. * Paul Cartledge, University of Cambridge, UK * Carpe verba! (Grasp the words!) A hugely fun and useful tool for Latin learners. I wish I'd had this book when I was learning Latin. * Caroline Lawrence, Ex-President of the Joint Association of Classical Teachers, UK * This is just the ticket for GCSE students and crossword addicts alike. * John Taylor, University of Manchester, UK *
