Author Biography

The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is the world's leading organization in the field of sport conditioning. Drawing on the resources and expertise of the most recognized professionals in strength training and conditioning, sport science, performance research, education, and sports medicine, the NSCA is the world's trusted source of knowledge and training guidelines for coaches and athletes. The NSCA provides the crucial link between the lab and the field. ABOUT THE EDITOR Mike R. McGuigan, PhD, CSCS,*D, is a professor of strength and conditioning at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand. From 2009 through 2012, he was a sport scientist with High Performance Sport New Zealand, where he worked with many elite athletes. He has worked in a variety of academic roles at universities in Australia and the United States. McGuigan is an associate editor for the Journal of Australian Strength and Conditioning, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, and International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance. He was the research and innovation coordinator for the New Zealand Silver Ferns netball team from 2009 to 2015. His research interests are in the areas of strength and power development and monitoring of athletes. He was the recipient of the NSCA's William J. Kraemer Outstanding Sport Scientist of the Year award in 2016, the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research Editorial Excellence Award in 2010, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association Outstanding Young Investigator Award in 2007. McGuigan lives in Auckland, New Zealand.
