Wisdom is often hard won. In these candid and extended discussions, Peter Thompson draws out the private self behind the public facade to shed light on how a number of prominent people have achieved so much - the hurdles they have faced, the strengths they have had to draw on and the lessons they have learned through life. Each person talks about contemporary Australia and their hopes for the future - sometimes presenting quite controversial views. Peter Thompson is well known to ABC radio listeners. From 1988 he was host of current affairs program AM and from 1994 he moved to Radio National to host both Breakfast and AM. He also hosted the community discussion forum 'First Wednesday' on ABC TV. He has also written several books. As well, Peter runs a communications consultancy and formed the Centre for Leadership to give greater emphasis to the leadership dimensions of his work in communication.
