This is a practical handbook about making a classical guitar. The book includes eight separate plans of instruments constructed by internationally famous guitar-makers. Part one of the book is devoted to separate chapters on each famous maker, the second part provides information about the tools, working environment and materials needed by the guitar maker while the third part comprises a step-by-step method of guitar construction, illustrated by both photographs and illustrations.

Roy Courtnall made his first guitar under the supervision of his great-grandfather when he was twelve years old. After obtaining a BA (Hons) degree in Sculpture from London University he became more involved in making lutes and guitars. He is now a self-employed guitar-maker, producing handmade instruments to order.

Roy Courtnall has combined the detailed work of the scholar with the practical insights of the craftsman. The book has a wealth of beautiful photographs and clear illustrations, packing a massive amount of information into a concise forma.
