Author Biography

Jacqui Simpson is a writer living in Te Horo on the Kapiti Coast. In 2010, she completed the Children's Writing Workshop at the Institute of Modern Letters at Victoria University which inspired her to start doing something with the many ideas she had scribbled down for children's stories over the years, since writing her first children's picture book at 12 years old. She wrote a short story, The Sea Charm which was published in Shortz, Stories from Kapiti, published by the Kapiti Children's Writers Group in 2012. Ethan the Incredible is her first picture book. Jacqui's other activities include part-time teaching, accounts, raising 3 children and performing in local theatre. Philip Webb was born in the UK and spent his early years in Hong Kong and Kenya before coming to New Zealand. He studied at Wellington Polytechnic School of Design and has worked for Television New Zealand as graphic designer and as illustrator for Children's programmes. He now works as a freelance illustrator and lives in Wellington. Philip has illustrated many stories in educational series, and among his most recent picture books are Hero of the Hill, written by Joy Cowley and the Piggity Wiggity books by Diana Neild.
