Description

A magical, modern and adventurous reimagining of the much-loved classic, from one of today's most exciting children's writers. This is an adventure story, complete with winterwolves and moonpaper maps, in which a young boy journeys through a frozen Neverland to break Captain Hook's curse. But it is also a story about what it means to be young and fearless and full of hope. All of us must grow up one day, but this is a book that champions the art of growing down . . . Milo is eleven, and desperate to grow up. That, he is sure, is when life will really begin. When he and his family move into a new house, and his younger sister Scruff discovers some mysterious gold dust in the attic, along with a bedroom window that seems impossible to close, it's the start of a strange and incredible adventure to a magical world. Milo's house used to belong to another family - the Darlings - who once visited this world themselves. Now Neverland needs Milo and Scruff to rescue it from a terrible curse - cast long ago by Captain Hook himself . . . Milo and Scruff are swept to Neverland and into the company of the Lost Girls, and as he fights to save this world - and his sister - Milo learns that what he has been so desperate for might have been inside him all along.

Author Biography

Abi Elphinstone grew up in Scotland where she spent most of her childhood running wild across the moors, hiding in tree houses and building dens in the woods. After being coaxed out of her tree house, she studied English at Bristol University and then worked as an English teacher in Africa, Berkshire and London. She is the bestselling and multi-award shortlisted author of RUMBLESTAR (first in The Unmapped Chronicles), SKY SONG & THE DREAMSNATCHER TRILOGY, published by S&S. When she's not writing, Abi volunteers for Beanstalk, speaks in schools and travels the world looking for her next story.

Reviews

'A wonderful whirlwind of magic and adventure, and every bit as enchanting as the original Peter Pan. I absolutely loved it!' Catherine Doyle, bestselling author of The Storm Keeper's Island -- Catherine Doyle, bestselling author of The Storm Keeper's Island 'Abi Elphinstone's imagination is as colourful and enticing as a sweetshop. In reimagining Peter Pan, she blows fairy dust over the classic tale and makes it fly . . . the perfect bedtime story for children of all ages.' * M.G Leonard * 'For fans of Peter Pan dreams really do come true in this magical sequel. Saving Neverland soars with Joy' * Piers Torday * 'An awfully big new adventure in Neverland that's icy, dicey, delightful and dazzling in equal measure!' * Peter Bunzl * Having written the sequel to a much loved book myself, I totally understand how exciting yet nerve wracking it is- and such a responsibility!- to tackle a story so many people know. And Abi Elphinstone was the perfect choice to write this adventure- it's full of Abi's trademark wit, wonder & high-stakes action and has the most brilliant cast of characters. Martha is a superb reluctant hero and Peter, the boy who lives for adventures, is quite a complicated individual! It honestly felt like reading a true classic. I think it might be Abi's best book yet.' * Emma Carroll * 'Saving Neverland is a return to Neverland for our times. It is daring, funny, joyful - everything we know and love about Abi Elphinstone' * Maz Evans * Elphinstone's reimaginig of J.M Barrie's classic is thrilling, imaginative and brilliantly reinterpreted for a modern audience, and features a young heroine who learns how to shake off the weight of the world and have an adventure. -- Charlotte Eyre * The Bookseller *
