Description

The Earth's climate is changing. It's getting hotter. In Australia over the past 50 years, maximum temperatures have been creeping higher. There have been record droughts, floods and bushfires. Why is this happening and what can we do to stop it getting worse? Earth Matters explains the science of climate change in a child-friendly and accessible way. It helps the reader see how their own choices can make a tangible difference to the planet. Endorsements: This is the first book I've come across that really delivers the science and reasoning behind climate change at a very easy to understand level. In all honesty, I personally understand it a lot better now. Earth Matters: Loving Our Planet by Carole Wilkinson and Hilary Cresp is a brilliant book for educating our children about the planet and the decisions we can make to slow down its destruction. Can you tell me a story? In clear simple prose [Carole] writes about all the relevant topics such as green-house gases, global warming, and renewable energy. I like the direct language she uses. She doesn't preach but is always sensible and practical. Credit must go to Hilary Cresp whose cheerful illustrations go a long way in helping readers understand complex matters. A relevant and timely book that should be in every school library. Mia Macrossan Magpies Magazine
