Description

The actions we take and the words we say play a big part in who we are as a person. This empowering picture book shows children they can be the authors of their own life stories. No one can tell you who you are--it's all up to you! You write your story with your actions and words. This dynamic picture book for readers of all ages features lush illustrations that bring universal situations to light, including ways to be brave, bold, and kind, as well as knowing when you've made a mistake. A perfect gift for new parents, graduating teens, as well as children and adults in any stage of their life, this is a book with a message- You are what you say and do.

Reviews

"This picture book frames the actions one takes in life as a person's story and encourages readers to write theirs well. 'You're writing a story / with everything you do. / What's this story about? / It's the story of you!' So begins this inspirational poem matched with images of diverse children doing all sorts of activities and making decisions that add to their stories...Joyful, innocently smiling children of various racial presentations and physical abilities play sports, dance, make art, protest, and play in pastel-hued illustrations. The rhyming stanzas make this an enjoyable read, and the unique but simple concept offers a thoughtful way to begin ongoing discussions about choices with young people. A message worth sharing." -Kirkus Reviews
